The WHY of Design
Home is the ultimate “safe” place. It’s the place where we have our deepest emotions, our most important connections, our downtime, and our escape from the pressures the world doles out. Every time I create a home, I am reaching deep inside to create a mood; a sanctuary for you.
When I design, I tap into my creative side to bring you something you won’t see elsewhere. Many of my clients have said, “I never would have picked this, but I love what you did.” I think it’s because when I am in “design mode,” I allow myself to be fearless, and the reason is that you will love it most when there is something unexpected.
I am also searching for an emotion for each of you. Debra wanted color, and she wanted to feel happy, while Amy wanted to relax. For Debra, I went with fun, saturated purple accents grounded by cool, crisp white on contemporary, circular frames, and for Amy, I chose nubby, highly textured solids in earth tones on traditional frames. Like you, both these women have a need to be filled. All your needs differ from each other, so I love taking time to get to know you, and the design therapist in me tries to figure out what you need most.
When I think about the WHY of design, there is something that I can’t hold back. There is an unstoppable need to create, and something equally driven in me to design the perfect home, over and over again, in varying degrees of pattern, color, and mood. When I reach far into that need, I find I am looking to create a feeling that will bring you, my clients, the ultimate joy.
