Jaw-dropping views are on display from panoramic windows in almost every room of this Long Island waterfront contemporary home. Originally designed and built by the homeowners in the 80s, the Fire Island Modern vibe had not been touched since then. Though stylish in its day, the jetted tub, platform bed, and Hollywood mirrors were no longer the clients’ taste. We created a soothing spa bath and primary suite, along with a spacious office, all with a natural, fun, and chic feel.
In the primary bath, the mauve jetted tub and tiny shower were replaced with a steam shower so the clients could soothe themselves after a fun day in the sun, complete with rainheads and touch controls. Commodious his and hers vanities are linked by a full makeup desk for her. Beach innuendos of rock style tile and waves on the walls are toned with a glamorous bubble chandelier and watercolor style wallcoverings in silver. A vine inspired silver branch sculpture graces the entrance.
In the bedroom and adjacent office, luxurious textures of seagrass and sisal are washed in silver metallic. Gone is the 80s platform bed, and now the deluxe bedding is flanked by nightstands of inlaid stone and mother of pearl. The most spectacular accents are the pendant lighting draping the bed in a silver sea creature motif.
We love going fully bold in our clients’ powder rooms, and so here we had tons of fun with our Trowbridge pop art and a chic nod to the beach, and Kravet fabric is the perfect complement for the Roman Shade.
